downtown remixed

It seems peculiar for me to introduce this post as a remix considering I have yet to formally introduce my experiences in downtown Austin on this very here blog. So technically, there should be no "re-" in the mix at all. Nevertheless, I can assure you that photographed proof of my random weekend strolls within my local metropolis is coming quite soon. For those who prefer to believe that I'm a more of a bedroom dweller, constantly treating myself to hours of pillow-hugging, cereal-munching, style.com scrolling action... you hit the nail on the head- I do in fact do a lot of that. But (and that's a very overemphasized but), I do often find the at-times reserved spirit to venture out into places unknown and come out in the end with a cherubic smile on my face! (actually, I do have proof of that- see below). Case in point, a splendid afternoon I spent in the aforementioned metropolis a couple of weekends ago with photographer duo Bryan and Mae, wherein we laughed, drank coffee, and then I alone fell victim to their hordes of fancy camera equipment. In fact, the very reason I was so able to produce the dorky-looking smile in the photo comes as a result of a mix of high-power java and Mae's unforgettable  dance-jams behind the lens. Two things I can no longer live without.
I guess I must offer an explanation for the split-photo silhouette resting on top of this text as well. You see, the gloomy snapshots sitting on either side of the (cough) radiant middle photo was taken by me a few days ago on what I brilliantly thought was going to be a gorgeous walk through the city but turned out to be a dampening trek through a barrage of stone-sized water droplets. Don't get me wrong, I adore rainy days, but stepping continuously into cleverly placed puddles (I say 'cleverly placed' because I seemed to step into every single one) begins to get tedious when it leads to the demise of one coveted pair of oxfords. Rest in peace, my babies.

So, after this dragged-out explanation, I believe that in a way this is a remix after all- an unexpected combination of high-quality photography and the lower alternative as provided by my measly point-and-shoot. I'll just have to smile my way through a few more months of somewhat average pixel count in the same way I smile here. Smile with me? *Cue cheesy look-off-into-the-distance grin*

p.s. looking forward to revealing the rest of the photos!

Ricardo!! You're so cute! I'm sorry about your Oxfords. One of my favorite pairs of shoes recently met their demise too, so I feel your pain :( Miss you!
