The obvious transition from the last post would have all roads leading to the Raf Simons name, but his actual menswear showing in Paris was all the necessary encouragement for a mention. That, and I just had to take a closer look at the thigh-slit shorts...half perverse, half epic. It's not just that the global fashion sphere is abuzz in intrigue towards the designer's debut at Dior later this week during Haute Couture, but also the manner in which Simons translates his classically streamlined and poetic perspective through menswear. In what could be considered to be more fitting for women, the Antwerp native's point of view did wonders throughout his stint at Jil Sander, but it only makes sense that the soft femininity he so often conveys appears just as...umm...smoothly in this case, albeit criticism from certain naysayers. Those "booty shorts" are not for everyone I guess.

There's always something to say about this boldness in menswear though. I've repeated this many times, partly due to my whole word vomit syndrome, and the other to a consumer's concern. In crafting vests boasting surrealistic paintings and floral suits showing off the leg, Simons invites attention to the gender-bending phenomenon shaping menswear today, and the general advancement of the industry sub-facet. As for me, I may not be donning blooming orchids on my person today, but a budding risk-taker takes time with pretty much everything. Though, I don't think flowers are in my sartorial interest...

ahhh, the work of Raf Simons, so beautiful! :)
I liked bits and pieces of this collection but the split shorts were a particular low point for me. Every Raf collections seems to come with its highs and lows.
I do agree with what "Duck" said but while the split shorts were slightly obscene the whole shocking factor is needed nowadays to get people to start thinking about something else than just the same old silhouettes that are bogging menswear. Kudos to Raf!

I love the contrast of the suits with the feminine flower coats and painted print vests. So chic
